Malbec

Such is the success of Argentine Malbec that many are probably unaware that this variety has been grown for much longer in the South West of France. The ‘Black Wine’ of Cahors used to be renowned for its inky concentration and age-worthiness, and this grape was once more widely used in Bordeaux. It is principally in Argentina and Mendoza though that it has found a place where it can excel, giving full-bodied, fruity reds to partner flavoursome red meat dishes.
