Where to start? There are so many different cheeses, but choosing a wine that is produced locally is usually a safe bet. Loire Sauvignon Blanc with a goat’s cheese is a classic and a Savoie whites work well with Raclette. For English cheeses Bordeaux works well with Cheddar and Stilton works with port. Otherwise it is a case of thinking about the texture and flavour intensity of the cheese and choosing accordingly. A single wine won’t work with all cheeses so if there is a selection its best to go with what you enjoy.
